JWMG: Periodical Review June 2010, no. 2

The Jihadi Websites Monitoring Group at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism presents a periodical review of significant issues discussed in Jihadi forums. The review covers a broad range of fields and presents trends in the dialogue between Jihadi activists and supporters. It examines new Jihadi publications which include: leaders' statements, Jihadi magazines, interesting correspondence which stimulated dialogue, specific threats and clues regarding attacks, predicted future activity and more.

This report summarizes the most prominent events posted on the Jihadi online forums in the first half of June 2010. Among the central topics appearing in this issue are:

• The No. 2 man in Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) calls upon supporters of the organization to raise funds to form operational cells to kidnap Saudi princes and foreigners.
• The mufti of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) explains that the Jihad commandment is a personal duty of every Muslim.
• The Jihadi forums publish a tape made by Osama bin Laden, which was previously broadcast about three months ago on the Al-Jazeera channel.
• A call made by surfers to increase the Jihadi activities in the Islamic Maghreb region.
• The son of the Salafi ideologist, Abu Muhammad Al-Maqdisi, was killed by American forces in Iraq.
